We manufacture sanitary design spiral wound ultrafiltration cartridges. The design ensures a controlled bypass between the inside wall of the housing and the outside wall of the cartridge. Consequently the need for a seal is not required to ensure a controlled by pass. This eliminates the possibility of "dead space" in which particles or macromolecules can accumulate and initiate an unsanitary condition. Our sanitary design spiral wound cartridges are designed with a controlled by pass. This is done by optimizing the fit of the cartridge in the housing and holding tight tolerances during manufacturing. This design eliminates the need for a "U Cup" type seal which eliminates stagnant flow areas and maximizes effective membrane area. Our cartridges enhance flow performance and increases the efficiency of the system. Fluid hold up volumes are minimized by utilizing our optimized sanitary design. By draining the cartridge housing after operation recovery is maximized over spiral wound cartridges which rely on the "U Cup" type seal to avoid cartridge by pass during operation. Our SD cartridges have been designed specifically for use in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. All materials of construction have been carefully selected for their suitability in a broad range of applications. By using an inert polypropylene for spacers and permeate tube the widest range of chemical compatibility is provided. The choice of adhesives is then critical to the integrity of the cartridge. We have carefully selected our adhesives to ensure the widest range of chemical resistance possible while ensuring the lowest levels of extractables. The result of the selection of the materials of construction provides our cartridge with a wide range of chemical compatibility.
